Reviews of Performances and their Audiences
Following the Met‘s lead, San Francisco Opera and The Bigger Picture announced an agreement to bringing opera to movie theaters. Appomattox, Die Zauberflöte, Don Giovanni, La Rondine, Madama Butterfly, and Samson et Dalila will be shown four times each, beginning in March 2008. All of these offerings have already been recorded in the last year, so none of them will be simulcasts.

Wonderful!! I will be able to get my opera fix sitting down! I will skip La Rondine, and I’m so sad that Tannhauser is not on that list. Please tell me you made a mistake and just left it out??

“My very first opera experience was actually in a movie theater” stated General Director David Gockley. Perhaps he will inspire the next generation of general directors.
