Ramey-as-boris

This is the fifth scene from Boris Godunov. Boris, portrayed by Samuel Ramey, has just thrown himself to the ground in an agressive manner.

This painting is on display until March 11th at Squat and Gobble in Lower Haight (237 Fillmore), along with several other cupcake opera paintings.

I was waiting to see if anyone was shameless enough to make a “Godunov to eat” joke.
That is a tragically vivid cupcake. I love these.

    O good gracious!
Thank you! I’ll be posting the rest of these in the coming weeks. Hopefully I’ll even paint more of them, it is quite fun.

But the cupcake is not dead. I thought you only appreciated dead cupcakes in opera.

Your paintings look great at Squat and Gobble. Went over there today just to check them out… though surely some of the diners thought me odd for leaning so far over their tables. Oh how we all suffer for good art. Congrats on your wonderful paintings and the public viewing! Hey, these got me to wondering: Did you do ones of Iphigenie and of Rake’s Progress?

What do you mean?! The only good cupcake is a dead cupcake, and that surely is at least a near-dead cupcake!

He doesn’t die in that scene.

Thanks so much for going out and seeing those paintings! I’m only working on this season as far as cupcake opera paintings, though I might go back and paint the last few seasons.
