This is interesting. Although maybe not. Perhaps he will just follow the tried and true formula: baroque music + baroque music + baroque music + baroque music + baroque music + baroque music = a season.

Well, they do always do something random, like Mendelssohn this year, and Brahms next year.

You may discount me since I work at PBO and all, but the orchestra plays quite a bit of Pre-Classical and Classical, as well as the occasional Romantic composer and, of course, Baroque music. PBO opens next season with Haydn and Beethoven! This past season, my favorite concert was the “Classic Triple,” featuring works by Beethoven, Mozart and Haydn. I’ll go back to work now…

p.s. fyi….my above comment is a silly reference to my comment on the OT”s “Matías Tarnopolsky News” post of yesterday.
I realize my above comment was inaccurate, but I believe my Matias’ comment was dead on (if I was an emoticon person, I’d insert one here).

From most accounts. Mr. P.P. is an egocentric Satan. The San Francisco Symphony players so hated him in the 1990s that they insisted he leave before they came back from a long strike. According to my friend J., he did a disastrous consulting gig for the Honolulu Symphony that almost killed the orchestra for good. I feel nothing but pity for the players in the Philharmonia Baroque.
