Michael Tilson Thomas is no longer conducting SF Symphony's performances of Iolanthe. George Manahan shall conduct instead, with Joyce Castle replacing Felicity Palmer as Queen of the Fairies. Sasha Cooke sings the title role, former Merolina Joélle Harvey sings Leila, and former Adler Fellow Lucas Meachem sings Strephon.

A Simultaneous Damn and Sigh of relief. I was hoping to return to San Francisco a few days earlier than planned to catch this (which didn’t look likely), but without Felicity Palmer’s Fairy Queen, I do not really see the need to…she was the main reason I wanted to attend (well, her and Richard Suart as the Chancellor…but I’ve always found him overrated.)

Wasn’t John Relyea supposed to be in this too? I thought the fan club had their next gathering at this concert?

IG: Yes, he was. This whole thing is turning into a nightmare.

John Relyea? In Iolanthe? Singing What, Private Willis?

I can’t find any evidence of this, but I was convinced Relyea was to be in these performances. Perhaps it was just wishful thinking on my part.
