The Opera Tattler has been sent this article no less than three times. One cannot begin to imagine why. For the record, I am only attending three of the seven Ring Cycles listed.

And you’re not even a Wagnerite! Berlin was left off that list, which Runnicles is conducting- were it included, would that make it four for you?

Wasn’t planning on the Ring in Berlin either, though I’ve heard great things about it. I guess maybe I will go to the Seattle Ring next time though. So, maybe four.

How funny. I was pestered with references to this article several times today as well. & I only saw one Ring this year. At the rate you are going, I think you can easily match the 72-year-old fellow who had notched up 90 Rings.

Still, you have attended more Rings than I have. Even one Ring Cycle each year for the rest of my life seems pretty excessive, though of course, you are right, I am on track to do so. Scary! Thank goodness I’ll probably be run over by a tram before I make it to 72.

I’ve yet to see a Ring and I’m nervous about taking the plunge. I’m new to Wagner and thought I’d start with The Vogue’s screening in November of Die Walkure (Palau de Les Arts, Valencia, Spain production). Anyone have suggestions as to where to start with a live production? I can’t say the SF Opera cycle excites me as Ms. Zambello usually bores me.

I’ve heard really good things about LA’s Ring, which doesn’t seem boring at least.
If one wanted to go traditional, Seattle’s Ring is very pretty.LikeLike
