How did you fare in your predictions? I think you ruled out Belongie for voice type reasons, didn’t you?

I thought Belongie was a tough sell, but I’m really glad they took him.
As for my other hopes, well, Biller and Lahyani are there. I’m not surprised about Sanikidze, of all the pianists, she was most promising. Do wonder who is leaving though.

Renee Tatum’s going out? Why? Isn’t she a first year?
Maybe it has something to do with the fact she’s in literally everything this season: Trovatore, Traviata, Trittico, Salome AND Otello. Even with reltatively small roles in each one (She’s got ONE line in Salome, but is onstage most of the night.)

I am so disappointed that Sumuel, Peake, Carroll, and Guilbeau aren’t in the new Adler crop. You have to wonder if they felt they weren’t usable enough, or if they declined offers. Very happy to hear Lahyani, Belongie and Jadge are in the mix though!

Well, I think that Renee Tatum is a big loss for the Adler Program, this generation that is leaving will be hard to replace, there is no vocal weak instrument. Hedi Melton, Daveda Karanas and Daniela Mack have great management, booked all over the world, even already schedule to return as guests principals. Kenneth Kellog’s place will be hard to fill, as he was in every single show his three years, covering or singing. Tammara Wapinsky will return so I think and she was covering Patricia Racette for three shows. The tenor gorgeous beautiful guys with beautiful voices of Alek Shrader and Andrew Bidlack, indeed very hard to find. This year having David Lomeli also, made not just having a dream three tenor lineup, but with Leah Crocetto, ReneeTatum and Austin Kness, not to forget Allen Perriello and Dennis Doubin the most powerful young artist roster of the nation this year. I see very hard that with the economy of the world and all companies casting their YAP earlier on the year (Sumuel and Peake were already in HGO) that the Adler program can get a generation X this way soon.

It is so hard to say why, it could just be that they are engaged elsewhere and don’t have time to be Adlers, or it could be all the behind-the-scenes politics we aren’t privy to.

Perhaps she’s gotten some good gigs elsewhere!
