Will you be seeing this soon? I hope to score a standing room ticket for tomorrow night… keeping my fingers crossed.

No, though I might try to catch the simulcast. Wasn’t planning on seeing this live until the full cycle. Do let us know how it is!

Hi Tattler,
Standing room tix were going fast; but I managed to get one in FC when the phone lines opened at 9:59am.
I am a novice when it comes to Wagner’s Ring, so I’ll keep my thoughts brief. I find myself agreeing more with the “cautiously positive” reviews by TT in NYT and Heidi Waleson in WSJ, than some others which are just glowingly positive. In fact, Martin Bernheimer was spot on in his criticisms.
Bryn Terfel was a bit disappointing vocally last night; perhaps he partied too hard on opening night? Stephanie Blythe and Eric Owens are superb. Richard Croft is not a heldentenor at all; though I guess Loge’s character is somewhat of a lightweight, sly half-human; half-god?
I thought of you when Erda made her entrance. Honestly, your Erda costume put the Met’s Erda to shame. She was simply clad in black.
But at least, the rainbow bridge in the final scene did work last night, so we got to see the gods walking towards Valhalla.
