This is very similar programming to SFO’s, except for the appearance of Naglestad, who I’m sure will never return here as long as Gockley’s in charge. The big difference of course is the presence of Domingo in Iphigenie, otherwise it’s a safe (shall we go ahead and say boring?) season. If I had to choose one I’d like to see, it would Salome- with Iphigenie a close second.

I like Naglestad, but I heard she did something in Norma that alienated her chances of coming back to SF, and that happened pre-Gockley.
I would hear Salome over Iphigenie because of the casting, even though I love Gluck far more than R. Strauss. I’m sure Domingo will be a fine Oreste.

I so loved the SF Opera Iphigenie and I long for the days of those more interesting productions. Racette doesn’t seem like the perfect fit to me… but it’s interesting. Happy New Year OT. I look forward to another year of your wonderful blogging.

It seems that the celebrity series concerts are only available to subscribers. I’d love to attend the JDF recital, but it doesn’t appear to be possible without a season subscription.

I adored that Iphigenie as well, much more than the Seattle/Met co-production.
Happy New Year to you! Thank you.

That’s one way of trying to get people to subscribe, I suppose. I guess we will see if it works!
