Single tickets for San Francisco Opera’s 2011-2012 season go on sale Sunday, July 10. Some cast changes have also been announced. Michael Fabiano will replace Francesco Meli as Gennaro in Lucrezia Borgia (Renée Fleming pictured left as Lucrezia Borgia, photo by Karin Cooper/Washington National Opera). Lucrezia Garcia and Fabio Sartori replace Oksana Dyka and Ramón Vargas in Attila.

I was looking forward to hearing Dyka and Meli. Any idea why they had to withdraw from their respective productions?

But I should add that I’m very excited to have the chance to hear Fabiano now!

It looks like Dyka withdrew from the Milan performances as well (the SF replacements are actually traveling with the production to San Francisco from co-producer La Scala). And Garcia is singing the same role in Seattle’s production (when have there been two “Attila” productions in the U.S. in the same season? Odd).
