The Met announced the 2012-2013 season today. The 7 new productions are L'Elisir d'Amore, Thomas Adès' The Tempest, Un Ballo in Maschera, Maria Stuarda, Rigoletto, Parsifal, and Giulio Cesare.

    This Elisir should be good. But if I pick one opera to see, I think it would be Les Troyens. I never saw this one.
    Very probably Domingo will wreck Rigoletto.

    I only see one run of La Traviata on the Met’s site (the first one, with Diana Damrau). Am I missing something?
    I too am looking forward to Les Troyens – rarely done – plus La Clemenza di Tito (also rarely done).

    I’m thrilled that the HD broadcasts include The Tempest, Guilio Cesare, and Parsifal. I really like and admire Ades’ work and I’ve yet to see the others as well.

    Some predictable things..but…also some wonderful ones! “Les Troyens” was done a few years back (my Ex did the titles)….I am thrilled to see “Parsifal” and “Dialogues des Carmélites”
    on the schedule!
