Another blah season for another American opera company. The economy has clearly devastated Seattle Opera, though glad to see they’re back to 6 productions (or 5.5), but why commission an opera just to play it twice? Hopefully the company finds its feet financially so it can get more adventurous with programming. Also, I’ve also noticed that Seattle really seems to stick to a set group of singers and bring them back a lot. Our own SF Opera does the same to an extent (hello, Ms. Racette), but not as much I think.

It is not to my taste, but I am glad things are looking better for Seattle Opera.
